As you are probably all aware by now Andy
Graham is Brother to Ed the drummer from rock legends The Darkness,
In fact when Andy and Ian first had an idea to create a popwerpop tour
de force way back in the mid 90's Ed was the first drummer they auditioned.
Thankfully for ED he came to his senses just in the nick
of time and decided to seek fame and fortune elsewhere. look

Biography
- Autumn 2003
Vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Ian Cook worked from the
tender age of 11 in the family publishing business, hand crafting paper
from Norfolk Reeds. One day, in a moment of boredom, he cut out a sheet
of paper in the shape of a guitar, it felt good and a legend was born.
Ian went on to form the now legendary Gypzy Tartz who
were great favourites of former Radio One Jock Alan Freeman.
Ian met bass player Andy Graham whilst the pair were
both out shopping for quality Vellum. Andy comes from a Romany family
and spent his youth selling UPVC home improvements. He chanced upon a
famous local Bass player who offered him a cheap battered Bass if he promised
to never darken his door again. He spent the long winters in his caravan
with his now celebrity brother Ed Graham of the
Darkness (www.thedarknessrock.com)
fame listening to classic rock and mastering the Bass, with Ed keeping
time on horse brasses and kitchen utensils.
When the Tartz split in the mid 90’s Ian and Andy formed the powerpop
power trio Crush releasing the now rare ‘Invisible’
album in 1996. In 2000 after several line up changes Ian’s partner
Sarah joined on keyboards. Ian and Sarah met when Sarah
was a pantomime horse (the front end of course) in a local production
of Jack and the Beanstalk. After impressing him with a rip roaring version
of ‘Great Balls of Fire’ on the Church Hall piano she was
faced with the difficult choice of either joining Crush or spearheading
a crusade for the tuning of Church Hall piano’s to be made compulsory.
Crush finally became Crushdeluxe with the addition of Drummer Angie
Bowman. Angie spent her teenage years as a glass collector at
a local go-go bar where she would secretly hone her drumming skills on
the house band drummer’s gleaming drumkit. Following an after hours
rendition of ‘Fly me to the Moon’ Ian and Andy, who were slumped
in the corner after numerous exotic cocktails, signed her up on the spot.
Since then the bands rise to fame has been unstoppable.
An old Romany friend of Andy’s put them in touch with legendary
rock producer Anik Oço,
a celebrity in his home town of Riga, Latvia who recorded the now heavily
bootlegged ‘Postcard’ EP which still features
heavily on Latvian Radio 2. Keen to bring home their
Latvian success story the band released their Hope EP
in August 2003 and promoted it by playing 3 open air shows, one for the
BBC, one in Lowestoft and one at the Gig in the
Park at Halesworth (www.giginthepark.co.uk) with pirate videos
of the tour changing hands for frankly silly money on ebay,
Crushdeluxe felt they had finally arrived.
Based in their rural retreat the band compose many of their hits whilst
soaking in an extensive Scandinavian Hot Tub, a gift from the UK
record industry in anticipation of a lifetime of achievement
in the Powerpop Industry. To cap it all the band recently signed a major
distribution deal with Detour Records making the EP available
worldwide via Detours mail order catalogue (www.detour-records.co.uk)
But don’t take our word for it, here’s what others had to
say.
Infectious Powerpop tunes that you can’t get out of your head
for days, I bet you can’t stand still - The Bath Chronicle
They really float my boat - Jordan
More balls than the lake at Gleneagles - Practical Golfer
Crush who?? - Robbie Williams
We are loving your funky powerpop groove thing - Latvian Times
When you fold it up it never fits back into the bag! Great tunes-
